How can a gendered lens be applied to policy on food security?

A discussion with the UN World Food Programme's Director for the Gender Office

In a world where we produce enough food to feed everyone, 815 million people – one in nine – still go to bed on an empty stomach each night. Even more – one in three – suffer from some form of malnutrition.

The Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger – pledges to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. How does this relate to gender equality? Can we reach Zero Hunger without also reaching gender equality?

In connection to the Stockholm Forum of Gender Equality, the Swedish Development Forum (FUF) in partnership with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) invites you to a discussion with Kawinzi Muiu, Director of the Gender Office at WFP. Kawinzi has throughout her career been a strong advocate for gender equality. She has her roots in rural Kenya and is now based at WFP’s headquarters in Rome.

Victoria Gillberg, board member of FUF, will moderate the discussion.
